Winners of the Young Canadian Musicians Award, Concert Artist Guild, Munich ARD, and Banff International String Quartet Competitions, the acclaimed Afiara String Quartet has performed around the globe including the Kennedy Center, Sao Paulo’s Museum of Modern Art, London’s Wigmore Hall, and Austria’s Esterhazy Palace.
They continually push the bounds of classical music through 25+ new music commissions, unique collaborations with jazz virtuoso Uri Caine, Latin Grammy Award-winning producer Javier Limon, and ground-breaking scratch DJ, Kid Koala.
They are joined by world renowned Canadian musician, Joel Quarrington, principal bass with the London Symphony Orchestra. His solo recording “Garden Scene” won the 2010 Juno Award.
Works will include Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 13 and Dvorak’s String Quintet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 77.
