Aeolus String Quartet
November 17th @ 3:15 pm - 5:15 pm EST $30 – $55With performances praised for both “dusky lyricism” (New York Times) and “high-octane” excitement (Strad), New York’s Aeolus Quartet are multi-prize winners. They have performed across North America, Europe, and Asia in venues such as Carnegie Hall (Weill), Severance Hall (Reinberger), The Library of Congress, Renwick Gallery, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. Aeolus have collaborated with Renee Fleming, Ida Kavafian, Joel Krosnick, Peter Wiley, Michael Tree, and Paul Neubauer.
Formed in 2008, the quartet’s members play on a set of instruments by famed Brooklyn luthier Samuel Zygmuntowicz. They will perform J.S. Bach Chorale in C Major, BWV 390, Overture & Chorale for cello quartet (2020) by Andrea Casarrubios, LIFT by Paul Wiancko, and **Mendelssohn String Quartet, Op.80, No. 6.
** Guest violinist Isabelle Ai Durrenberger will replace Nicholas Tavani – Mendelssohn inserted in place of Dvorak Op. 106.
